Counts May Differ From the Platform
Different systems count text differently, particularly for:
- Emoji — some platforms count a single emoji as one character, others as two or more
- Line breaks — may or may not be counted, depending on the platform
- Links — some platforms shorten URLs and count them at a fixed length
- Mentions and hashtags — may be counted differently from plain text
- Non-Latin scripts — Arabic, Urdu, Chinese and others can be counted by character or by byte
